My Survival Tool Kit

Hey you guys, I wanted to share a few strategies I’ve been using over that past few weeks that have really been helping me feel sane.

Number 1: move EVERY DAY

I’ve been working out with my friends almost daily. I really noticed last semester, feeling cramped within my own head, body, room, and space. With these feelings, I struggle to focus on work. I guess you could call it my new years resolution, resi for short, but I wanted to TRY and move more. I love taking walks with my beautiful Bernedoodle, Soba. I’ve also been hosting live workouts, watching workout Youtube videos, and designing crazy exercises. The movement portion of my day really helps me loosen up, remember what’s important, and soak up some space on this earth.

Number 2: create and taste new, exciting meals

This one comes from my need for separation. I like to build my day around meal times – call me a foodie – so that I can time block more efficiently. So, food time = break time, and when I return from my break, I want to feel fresh. Something that helps me do this is eating new creations every day. Sometimes, its a simple change; like a different sauce on my sandwich, or maybe rice instead of pasta with the salmon, but these little changes allow my taste palate to be surprised and looking forward to every meal.

Number 3: design your space to match what you need

Hey, I’m Alex, and maybe I’m OCD or maybe I’m onto the next health craze, but I rearrange the furniture at any chance I’m given. Yep, that’s me. It comes back to the want to feel refreshed. I like to move everything, deep clean, organize, and put back in a different layout. So, I’ve done this to my bedroom. A few new lightbulbs (the best ones from amazon that change colours), pictures on the wall, and a fresh duvet makes a girl feel something. So I really hope I can inspire you to move a table and chair, add a new rug, and just bask in the new space. I think the real point of this is that you need to feel comfortable in your space, especially in the given times… I spend pretty much the whole day in my room, so you need to feel good in it.

Number 4: keep every day interesting

I like to do lots of different things to change up my routine. Try listening to different kinds of music; Youtube playlists, Spotify playlists, go through your old music – there are some real gems in there, fill your mind with good songs to inspire you. I’ve also been experimenting with different clothes, trying to really feel my fashion oats (Gia Gunn, RuPauls Drag Race season 6). This helps me feel trendy and in touch with other real humans. But the one thing that really correlated with this point (even though I do not condone this in high doses): online shopping. Yes. I spend too much money online, and you probably do too. But let’s face it – a package at the door keeps the soul happy.

Number 5: pamper yourself

Let me get right to the point: make yourself feel like a GODDESS. I want you to feel fresh, smooth, clean, sparkling, and fabulous. Exfoliate in that shower this morning, put on a face tonight, order some fresh makeup and get your glam on. Get the jewelry on, clean the shoes, put them on, and give yourself a little fashion show. Curl your hair, even if its just to waste time. Basically, feel like a queen, act like a queen, be treated like a queen. I’m not seeing ANYONE, so pamper yourself for yourself. Oh, and my other thing: take more baths. Drop some tea leaves and coconut oil in there, light ALL of the candles, and you have one delicious bath time. I guarantee you’ll love it.

I guess that’s all I have to say today. Follow me on instagram for more constant updates: I have some cool things planned 😉
